When asked about when is the best time to start a blog, many would quip “20 years ago”. The second best time is today. Well, this is my today. It’s also something I really thought about doing back when I registered my domain in 2008. That was 14 years ago.
I’ve thought about sharing what I’ve learned many times, but all too often some form of imposter syndrome kicks in and I give myself a rain check. But just recently I was reading Austin Kleon’s fantastic book ‘Show Your Work!‘ and he describes how it is perfectly reasonable to be still on a journey of learning, and that perhaps others might be on a similar journey and be interested in what someone else has just discovered. I realised that I have spent more than 20 years building knowledge, learning stuff, and that that stuff may just help someone else. And that’s fine. I love helping others to grow and learn.
Incidentally, I was pointed in the direction of Austin Kleon’s book by Ali Abdaal who is someone that I have been following for a while on YouTube. He’s big into productivity, making money online, and speaking really fast! But mostly he’s just an intelligent guy that talks about stuff I’m interested in, so you might find his videos useful too.
In my professional life I run several businesses, across multiple continents, as well as mentor other business owners within their own businesses. So it’s likely that some of you may be trying to figure out some of the stuff that I’ve already looked into. If so, I hope that you will gain value from some of the things I have to say.
